Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones reports a Pulaski County man was found guilty at the conclusion of a trial in Pulaski Circuit Court.
On Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, a jury found John Hannon Stacy, age 62, of Somerset, guilty of Murder, Kidnapping – with serious physical injury, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, and Attempted Murder, following a four-day trial in Pulaski Circuit Court. The jury recommended a sentence of two life sentences for the offenses of Murder and Kidnapping, as well as sentences for the other offenses.
The incident began on July 23, 2022 when Deputies responded to an assault complaint on Parrott Drive in Eastern Pulaski County. When Deputies arrived, they discovered a female victim had been assaulted by John Stacy at her residence. Stacy entered the residence, armed with a gun and held the female against her will. Stacy shot at the female, striking her and causing not-fatal contact.
The next morning, another call came into 911 Dispatch reporting a shooting victim on Paradise Lake Drive in eastern Pulaski County. Deputies responded to the scene, and determined that the victim was deceased. Detectives with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, along with the Major Crimes Task Force and other Deputies responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
During the afternoon of July 23, 2022, Deputies located Stacy in Eastern Pulaski County as he was attempting to flee Pulaski County. A traffic stop was conducted and Stacy was taken into custody.
