(WKYT) — A man was charged with impersonating a peace officer after allegedly using a light package to pull over a vehicle.
A deputy with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a man conducting an unlawful traffic stop on Highway 30 on Saturday, Aug. 8, according to an arrest citation.
The man had allegedly activated a red light package commonly used for responding to emergency fire calls to pull the driver over, the citation said.
The deputy located Korie Noble sitting on the side of Highway 30 with the vehicle that was described to authorities, according to the citation, which resembled a police car and had a Breathitt County Sheriff’s Office sticker.
The car also allegedly had other personal decals commonly seen on a police vehicle.
The deputy asked Noble if he had conducted an unlawful traffic stop on another motorist, the citation said, and Noble told the deputy that he activated the emergency equipment.
When the vehicle pulled over, according to the citation, Noble said he approached the driver of the vehicle and began to talk to the driver about the speed he was going.
When the driver asked Noble to present a badge or badge number, the driver said Noble told them that he did not have to do so. The driver drove off and contacted the authorities afterward, according to the citation.
The responding deputy asked Noble if he had ever conducted any other traffic stops, the citation said, and Noble reportedly told the deputy that he had only ever done it that night.
Noble was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center and is facing charges of impersonating a peace officer, improper emergency/safety lights and failure to produce an insurance card.
