(WKYT) – Two people are dead after a plane crashed at Foxtale Farm in Jessamine County on Saturday morning.
The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened just before 9 a.m. Both victims were still in the plane after the crash. Their identities have not been released.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident to determine how the small aircraft crashed.
Witness describes crash
Jim Fish said his Saturday morning started out peaceful in the backyard with his dogs. Then he looked up at the sky.
“I look over the roof of my house and off in the distance I saw the wing come off the plane and the plane spiraling down to the ground,” Fish said.
The plane came down in the field at Foxtale Farm, just on the other side of the fence from Fish’s subdivision. Fish said it was over in an instant.
“Just a few seconds. Maybe five or six,” Fish said.
Investigation underway
On scene, the debris field told the story on its own. Investigators taped off a portion of the wreckage away from where the plane sat.
“I could tell that it hit some trees and the ground pretty hard,” Fish said.
The Jessamine County Emergency Management Service and the Jessamine County Fire Department helped clean up the site’s wreckage on Saturday.
“I was worried that it had hit a residence, but I was thankful it did not,” Fish said.
Fish said he called 911 and the operator asked if he was in the Paddock neighborhood.
On Saturday evening, Fish and his Nicholasville neighbors are left with questions, ones only federal investigators can answer.
Foxtale Farm is owned by Keeneland President and Chief Executive Officer Shannon Arvin and her husband Will Arvin.
