(WKYT) – Kentucky’s drought status has improved after the latest update from the National Integrated Drought Information System Update on Thursday.
Most of the state is in severe drought, with pockets of moderate drought in central and eastern Kentucky.
There are also a few isolated pockets of extreme drought.

According to the Kentucky Mesonet, nearly half of the commonwealth emerged from an extreme drought thanks to recent heavy rain.
Some parts of Kentucky have seen over 5 inches since last week.
