(WKYT) – Andy Barr has won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
Barr, who currently represents Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District, triumphed over a field that included former Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
The race saw a major turning point when President Donald Trump endorsed Barr in early May and convinced former candidate Nate Morris to accept an ambassadorship.
Barr now has the chance to fill the open Senate seat left by retiring U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell.
McConnell announced he would not seek re-election in 2025.
