(WKYT) – The Kentucky men’s basketball program picked up its first commitment from the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday, as Washington point guard Zoom Diallo announced he will continue his career in Lexington.
The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 15.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game during his sophomore season with the Huskies. Diallo will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Diallo was in Lexington over the weekend for an official visit before making his decision.
His commitment comes hours after BYU transfer guard Rob Wright turned down Kentucky and elected to return to BYU.
Diallo also brings a notable high school connection. He is a former teammate of No. 1-ranked high school prospect Tyran Stokes, with the two playing together at Prolific Prep in California.
Kentucky continues reshaping its roster through the transfer portal as preparations for the upcoming season begin.
