Wayne County’s Fiscal Court met Thursday night and took care of regular monthly business.
There was discussion on an outstanding legal bill of $56,271 with the office of Frost-Brown & Todd. The bill was for services rendered from April of 2022 into a portion of January 2024 and was related to the county’s attempt to secure natural gas.
An emergency declaration was approved so the county could obtain blacktop from a provider in Clinton County at an $82 per ton flat rate. The declaration was necessary as the normal provider of blacktop has been unable to provide what the county has needed for some urgent repair projects.
During the EMS report, magistrates were informed the local department has been awarded $81,535 which will partially fund the purchase of three chest compression devices for hands free CPR. The total purchase cost will be $82,684.
The Court also approved a recurring expense related to a November pay increase for employees.
