Our local chamber of commerce is proud to recognize Deputy Cody Neal as this year’s Hometown Hero in today’s Christmas Parade beginning at 6pm. A native of Wayne County, Cody has served his beloved small-town community for 13 years with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, dedicating himself to the safety and well-being of its citizens. Over his career, Cody has completed 1,308 hours of training, participating in numerous specialized programs including rapid DNA officer training, the Advanced Leadership course by the National Sheriff’s Association, KY post-critical incident seminar training, and most recently, the Safe Schools and Communities conference. He is also a certified peace officer.
Currently serving as a school resource officer, Cody uses his extensive training and unwavering dedication to ensure the safety of our youth. His commitment to both his career and his personal life is evident in the countless ways he goes above and beyond, whether it’s helping someone with a simple question or delivering groceries to those in need across Wayne County.
Earlier this year, Cody demonstrated extraordinary courage when he was shot in the line of duty. Even in the face of danger, his faithfulness to serve and protect never wavered. When he’s not on duty, Cody enjoys spending time with his family, embodying the values of loyalty, dedication, and compassion both at work and at home. We are deeply grateful to Deputy Cody Neal for his service, bravery, and commitment to our community.
