According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron 2 Monticello men have been arrested on several felony charges including robbery.
Back on August 15, 2024, a male victim contacted the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Derek Dennis after seeking treatment at the Wayne County Hospital for injuries he sustained during an altercation that occurred at a residence located on Bertram Street in the city limits of Monticello. The victim reported that he was asked to that residence by one of the suspects. Upon entering the residence, the victim stated that he was accused of stealing an item from one of them, and then was assaulted by both men. The victim stated he was not allowed to leave after being assaulted and was held there against his will. After a period of time the victim was given some bandages and a hat to treat and cover up his injuries and then was allowed to leave the residence. The victim also stated that the two suspects had taken an item from him during the altercation and would not give it back which was worth several hundred dollars.
Deputy Derek Dennis made several attempts over the next couple of days to locate the 2 suspects in order to interview them about the altercation. Neither suspect could be located.
On August 17, 2024, Deputy Dennis obtained a Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest for James D. Lyons and Ridel D. Joe, both of Monticello. On August 31, 2024, Burkesville, KY. Police Department Officer H. Tweedy located Ridel D. Joe and arrested him for traffic violations and the Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest for the charges of Robbery-1st degree, assault-2nd degree, unlawful imprisonment-1st degree, and wanton endangerment-1st degree. Joe was lodged in the Adair County Detention Center. On September 5, 2024, Joe was transported back to Wayne County by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Nick Bertram was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
On September 5, 2024, at approximately 7:25 pm Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Brad Tucker located the 2nd suspect on North Main Street. Deputy Tucker arrested James D. Lyons of Monticello, KY. on the Wayne County District Court Complaint Warrant of Arrest for robbery-1st degree, assault-2nd degree, unlawful imprisonment-1st degree and wanton endangerment-1st degree. Lyons was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The investigation is continuing by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
