Signups for the youth soccer league at Memorial Park will be held later this month, after the parks and recreation committee
met in special session yesterday (Thursday) and decided to move ahead with plans for the league.
Parks and Recreation Director Lonnie Chaplin recommended that plans for the league be approved following a successful Cal Ripken Baseball League that was completed at the park this summer.
Chaplin said that the same safety precautions can be used for the soccer league. Teams will be limited to eight players and there will be one designated goalie per team who will wear gloves during contests.
Judge-Executive Mike Anderson recommended that signups include a waiver for parents to sign in regard to any illness that may occur related to COVID-19. Signups will begin after school starts on August 24. The season will begin in early September and will conclude sometime in October.
