School Board Meeting Recap

The Wayne County School Board met last night (Thursday) and approved the audit for 2019=2020. The report was presented by Artie White with White and Associates. White stated the school district had an excellent audit report with no findings.
Board members were updated regarding in-person classes, with students attending on alternate days. Superintendent Wayne Wayne Roberts said that so far it was working out well and he had received a lot of positive feedback. Roberts told board
members that they have seen a spike in COVID-19 cases recently, with three staff members testing positive this week.
District officials will continue to monitor the numbers and if they move into the designated “red zone” there may have to be some changes made regarding in-person classes.
Also during the meeting, the board made a couple of amendments to the current salary schedule. JROTC staff members will be moved into a separate pay schedule, according to Roberts. The salary schedule was also amended to include an hourly rate for retired employees who may come back to work, like school bus drivers.
