Meeting of Attorneys Delayed

A hearing scheduled by attorneys representing the City of Monticello and Monticello Police Officer Ronnie Ellis II was postponed this morning. The teleconference was scheduled to discuss the situation involving Ellis, who was formerly Assistant Chief for the city police department.
Monticello Mayor Tracie Sexton verified that the telephone meeting was scheduled for 10 a.m. but Ellis’ attorney, George Bertram, notified the city that he needed to delay it. Though no specific details regarding the issue was released by city officials, Sexton said that Ellis is currently employed with the Monticello Police Department.  City Attorney Gordon Germain and an attorney from the Kentucky League of Cities were scheduled to participate in the meeting, according to Sexton.
No specific time has been set for a future meeting between attorneys at this point.
