Buckle Up & Phone Down Campaign

A new highway safety campaign is being launched across the state of Kentucky, and it is called “Buckle Up, Phone Down.” This comes after officials say they reviewed the numbers showing that traffic fatalities in Kentucky seem to be up compared to the same time period last year. It is believed that many lives could be saved by more people wearing their seatbelts and by putting down their phones, reducing the number of distracted drivers. It is already illegal in Kentucky to text and drive, and some lawmakers are hoping to follow Tennessee in making it illegal to even have your phone in your hands while driving. As part of the new campaign, Kentuckians can expect to hear radio advertisements, see television ads, see new warning signs and see increased patrols by law enforcement.
