At 11:08 a.m. the Monticello-Wayne County 911 Dispatch Center began receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision on the KY 90 bypass in front of Ace Hardware prompting emergency responses from the Monticello Police Department, Monticello Fire Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne County EMS and two air-medical services.
The investigation by Sgt. John Hurd determined a Chevrolet HHR being operated by Shelia Vanover, 57, of Monticello, pulled onto KY 90 and into the path of a westbound Ford truck being operated by Robert Hockenberry, 53, of Albany, resulting in the front of the truck slamming into the driver’s side of the HHR.
Shelia Vanover was flown to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital then on to the UK Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, a six-year-old female, was transported by WCEMS to LCRH then flown to the UK Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. A second passenger, an eight- year-old male, was not injured.
Hockenberry escaped injury but a passenger in his truck, Amanda Burchett, 47, of Monticello, was transported by WCEMS to the Wayne County Hospital for treatment and observation. Her injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
MPD Lt. Josh Asberry and WCSO Deputies Cody Neal and Valis Smedley assisted with the investigation and accident scene.
