According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a 19-year-old Monticello man has been arrested on felony charges after being accused of continuing harassing and stalking his ex-girlfriend over a period of time.
On September 16, 2023, at approximately 10 p.m., Deputy Jerry Meadows was confronted by the 19-year-old man at a local business. The man stated he needed help to locate his cell phone that he had lost on Cooper Hollow Road after being involved in a verbal dispute with his girlfriend at that location which later was determined it was an ex-girlfriend. While speaking to the man, Wayne County 911 Dispatch Center advised Deputy Meadows to call the mother of a juvenile who was involved in the incident of the verbal dispute. After locating the cell phone and returning it to the 19-year-old man Deputy Meadows met with the mother at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. The mother along with her juvenile son and the ex-juvenile girlfriend provided cell phone video footage of the incident that had taken place at Cooper Hollow Road earlier. The video footage showed where the 19- 19-year-old had put his vehicle in reverse motion twice in what appeared to be an attempt to ram the new boyfriend’s vehicle that the ex-girlfriend was in. The new boyfriend had to maneuver his vehicle out of the roadway to prevent being hit. Deputy Meadows also learned that the ex-boyfriend had continually stalked the juvenile ex-girlfriend dating back to the Wayne County Fair in July, coming to her workplace while she is working on multiple occasions staying there for extended periods of time following her to a restaurant while eating with co-workers and then following her back to her workplace and began verbally yelling at them.
While attempting to locate the ex-boyfriend Deputy Meadows learned that the ex-boyfriend had been involved in a motor vehicle accident on Kentucky Highway 200 and was now at the Wayne County Hospital being treated. Deputy Meadows then was advised that the ex-boyfriend had walked out of the hospital and had left the property. Deputy Meadows located the ex-boyfriend walking on Albany Road (South Main Street). Deputy Meadows then arrested Taysuan Bennett of Monticello, KY. for stalking-1st degree and 2 counts of wanton endangerment-1st degree.
Bennett was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
