Monticello Wayne County 911 is currently looking for individuals on a part-time and full-time basis. You must be willing to work whenever the agency needs you, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays. The agency is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Responsibilities
You will operate multi-line phone systems, answer 911 emergency telephone calls, and dispatch calls to responding field units. Gathers information from caller and relays information to responding field units. Answers telephone for administrative personnel, takes messages, and distributes for non-emergency calls. Maintains a calm radio and telephone essential to caller and responding field units. Enters data on calls from both radio and telephone into computer aided dispatch software. Monitors and answers numerous radio frequencies. Operates GIS system; maps on computer terminal pin-pointing exact addresses and determines the best route for emergency responders. Handles emergency medical dispatch and provides pre-arrival instructions to callers. Comprehends radio traffic. Communicates with surrounding agencies. Assists persons who enters building requesting help. Serves as a point of contact between agencies. Performs office duties; operates general office equipment. Maintains daily cleaning of department and personal workstations. Maintains security of the building. Assists with officer requests pertaining to information on telephone numbers, photocopies, etc. Maintains all information in a confidential manner. Performs all other duties assigned.
Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be 18 years of age or older, possess a driver’s license, has typing skills, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to multi-task while working in a high stress environment.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation, suitability assessment, polygraph, drug testing, and successfully completing a 4-week training course at the Dept. of Criminal Justice Training/Eastern KY University in Richmond, Ky. Meals and lodging will be provided.
