At approximately 2:50 a.m. Tuesday (May 23) Officer Casey Lang conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 Dodge Dakota on KY 92 West in response to a reckless driving complaint. The ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of Douglas K. Coyle, 36, of Monticello on charges of Reckless Driving, No Registration Plates, Failure of Owner to Maintain Insurance and Failure to Register Transfer of Motor Vehicle. Coyle was also served with a Wayne District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Pay or Show Cause on February 27th. Coyle was processed and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
At approximately 6:25 a.m. Wednesday (May 24) Officer Casey Lang responded to a dispute that escalated to a physical altercation at a residence on Fairview Avenue. WCSO Deputy Joe Horne also responded. Their investigation determined William Brown, 44, came to his uncle’s residence and refused to leave although asked repeatedly which led to an argument during which Brown assaulted his uncle. Brown continued his aggressive behavior toward Officer Lang and Deputy Horne resulting in both deploying their tasers, then securing Brown on the living room floor. Brown was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center on charges of Assault 4th Degree (domestic violence), Menacing, Resisting Arrest and Terroristic Threatening.
