Two arrested on drug trafficking, drug possession, and firearm charges

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, a traffic violation has led to the arrests of two individuals on multiple charges including drug trafficking, drug possession, and firearm charges.
On November 26, 2022, at approximately 6:15 pm Deputies James Barnett and Derek Dennis observed a vehicle not using a turn signal while making a turn off of South Kentucky Highway 1009.
Once contacting the driver, Deputies smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Deputy Dennis deployed his Deputy K-9 Unit Dunya for a free air sniff around the vehicle. Deputy K-9 Dunya alerted the passenger side door area for the presence of illegal narcotics. The passenger Indika Sears of Manchester, Ky. was found to be in possession of a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe known to be commonly used with illegal narcotics. The driver Kenneth Neal of Albany, Ky. was found to be in possession of 2 plastic bags on his person that contained suspected methamphetamine with a total weight of 21.2 grams. The bags of suspected methamphetamine were tested on the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office’s new Tru-Narc identification equipment which showed it was positive for methamphetamine. All illegal items including a small amount of marijuana, a 22-caliber handgun, and $580.00 in cash were seized during the search.
Indika Sears was charged and arrested for possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kenneth Neal was charged and arrested for failure to or improper signal, possession of marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Both Sears and Neal were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Deputies Barnett and Dennis were assisted at the scene by Deputies Brad Tucker and Jerry Coffey. The investigation is continuing by the Wayne County Sheriff Office.

Billy J. Daniels of Monticello, Ky. was arrested on a Wayne County Circuit Court Indictment Warrant of Arrest for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), no operator’s license and for traffic violations. Daniels was also arrested on 2 Wayne County District Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to appear and failure to pay or show cause on the underlying charges of fleeing or evading Police-2nd degree (on foot) and 2 counts of failure to appear.
Jeffrey Young of Monticello, Ky. was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Young was arrested on 2 Pulaski County Circuit Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to appear on the charges of non-payment of child support, possession of a controlled substance-1st offense (heroin) and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Young was arrested on 2 Pulaski County District Court District Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to appear on the underlying charges 2 counts of non- payment of child support. Young was also arrested on a McCreary County District Court Warrant of Arrest for non-payment on the underlying charges of operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (drug unspecified).
Daniels and Young were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.

Angel Benitez of Monticello, Ky. was arrested on a Wayne County Circuit Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to pay or show cause on the underlying charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (drug unspecified). Benitez was also arrested on a Wayne County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to appear for a Motion Hour to Revoke on the underlying charges of operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and leaving the scene of an accident-failure to render aid.
Benitez was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
