Monticello Man Arrested for Stealing Package
Timothy Brown, 45, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by MPD Officer Josh Smith, accused of stealing a package that had been delivered to a residence on Boone Street.
The homeowner called 911 just after 2:00 p.m. when she discovered the package was missing. Officer Smith joined the victim in reviewing video footage from her home security system and in doing so, Officer Smith recognized the perpetrator then set out to locate him.
At approximately 3:20 p.m. Brown was taken into custody at a residence on North 2nd Street and the stolen package was recovered nearby.
Brown was processed and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center on a charge of Theft of Mail Matter. Under a revision to Kentucky law that took effect in July, this offense is a Class D felony.
The package was returned to the victim.
