Monticello Police Indictment Report

Monticello Police Chief, Joey Hoover reports on Tuesday, August 16th, evidence from recent criminal cases investigated by members of the Monticello Police Department was presented to a Wayne County Grand Jury resulting in indictments being returned.

Joey Hall, 45, of Monticello was indicted on two counts of Arson 1st Degree and 41 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree in connection with multiple fires set at what is known as the Wray building in downtown Monticello during the early morning hours of June 24th. Hall has been incarcerated in the Wayne County Detention Center since his initial arrest on June 26th. Officer Brandon Bertram served the indictment warrant on Hall Wednesday evening. His bond is set at $100,000 cash or 2X property.

Charles Jones, 50, of Monticello was indicted on charges of Assault 1st Degree, Unlawful Transactions with a Minor 3rd Degree, and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree. Jones is accused of providing “several shots of whiskey” to an 8-year-old boy resulting in serious injury to the child and requiring hospitalization.  Jones has been incarcerated since the incident on May 29th. Officer Brandon Bertram served the indictment warrant on Jones Wednesday evening. His bond is set at $50,000 cash or 2X property.
