Wayne County back to the “Red” in latest CDC Covid Map

After spending a week in the yellow category Wayne County returned to the red level of covid spread.

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department currently has 6 counties in the “red” or high Covid community spread level, 2 counties in the “yellow” or medium level of community spread, and 2 in the “green” or low level of community spread.
The map is based on the CDC Community Spread model. This model calculates the level of Covid-19 infection in the community based on hospital capacity and the number of new COVID admitted patients to the hospital for the last week.
If you are eligible for a booster, this is the time to get it. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, please consider getting the vaccine. Many studies have shown that immunity from recent vaccination is more effective against COVID variants than immunity resulting from a prior COVID infection. The strain that is circulating now is very contagious.
