Wayne County Schools appreciated the generous donation from the Monticello Wayne County Retired Teachers group who recently donated two years worth of donations to be used for school supplies and the School Backpack Program. Over 50 students currently receive non-perishable food items that they take home to be eaten over the weekends, when the district’s free breakfast and lunch program is not operating. Wayne County Family Resource Center Directors Ashley Thompson (left) and Leslie Randall (right) accepted a check recently from Monticello Wayne County Retired Teachers President Jane Dalton. The retired teachers not only contributed to the well-being of their students while they were teaching, but continue to do so for the next generation of students.
Monticello Lodge 431 Representatives Eddie Norfleet and Reed Neal delivered a generous check for Bell Elementary’s Backpack program, recently. Bell Elementary Principal Derrick Harris, Second Grader Daisy Burks, and Family Resource Center Director Ashley Thompson accepted the donation on behalf of their school.
