Two Men Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron two Wayne County men have been arrested on multiple charges including drug trafficking after a vehicle traffic stop.
On January 29, 2022, Deputies James Barnett and Derek Dennis were working on a drug interdiction assignment on East Kentucky Highway 90. At approximately 8:30 pm the Deputies observed a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling west on Highway 90 with a SUV type vehicle following the pickup within 4 or 5 feet of its rear bumper. After conducting a traffic stop on both vehicles together a search of the suspects and their vehicles resulted in 37.0 grams of methamphetamine, 4 ½ suboxone tablets, a small amount of marijuana, numerous plastic baggies containing drug residue and several drug paraphernalia items being seized. An interview with both suspects resulted in the Deputies learning that the SUV was closely following the pickup truck to prevent it from being stop by law enforcement.
Deputy James Barnett charged and arrested Tyler Morrow of Monticello, Ky. for following another vehicle too closely, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance-2nd degree (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Morrow was also arrested on a Clinton County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to pay fines on the underlying charge of a traffic violation.
Deputy Derek Dennis charged and arrested Darren Davis of Monticello, Ky. for no taillights, no registration receipt, no registration plates, rear license plate not illuminated, trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance-2nd degree (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Morrow and Davis were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also arrested the following.
James K. King of Monticello, Ky. was arrested for public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol) and possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine). King was also arrested on 2 Wayne County District Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to pay or show cause on the underlying charges of public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol), resisting arrest, fleeing or evading Police-2nd degree (on foot), reckless driving, failure of owner to maintain required insurance and menacing.
Dennis A. Hale of Monticello, Ky. was arrested for possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine) and a traffic violation.
King and Hale were also lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
