According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a couple of traffic stops has led to the arrest of three Wayne County men on drug trafficking and drug possession charges.
On January 24, 2022, at 8:30 pm Deputies Derek Dennis and James Barnett conducted a traffic on North Main Street after observing the vehicle driving carelessly. The Deputies noticed a drug residue item in plain view inside the vehicle. After a search of the driver resulted in several syringes and 2.0 grams of fentanyl being found on his person a search of the passenger resulted in a small amount of methamphetamine being located in his pants pocket.
Deputy Dennis charged and arrested Jerry J. Yates of Monticello, Ky. for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st offense (carfentanil or fentanyl derivates), possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving.
Deputy Barnett charged and arrested the passenger Michael S. Bell of Monticello, Ky. for possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine).
The second traffic stop occurred on January 25, 2022, at 1:45 am on North Main Street by Deputy James Barnett. Deputy Barnett made contact with a passenger in the vehicle was known to him as having active arrest warrants. After being placed under arrest a search of his person was conducted with suboxone sublingual films being found.
Deputy Barnett charged and arrested Scottie Jennings of Monticello, Ky. for possession of a controlled substance-2nd degree (drug unspecified). Jennings was arrested on 2 Wayne County Circuit Court Warrants of Arrest for failure to pay support as ordered and failure to pay on the underlying charge of manufacturing methamphetamine. Jennings was also arrested on a Wayne County District Court Warrant of Arrest for failure to appear for a Pre-Trial Conference on the underlying charge of fleeing or evading Police-2nd degree (on foot).
Yates, Bell and Jennings were lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office also took the following law enforcement actions.
Gary Emerson of Monticello, Ky. was arrested on a Wayne County Circuit Court Commitment Order of Arrest for a Bond Release.
Dickie Wallace of Monticello, Ky. was served with a Wayne County Circuit Court Criminal Summons for the charge of possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine).
Joseph Estle of Monticello, Ky. was served with a Wayne County District Court Criminal Summons for the charges of assault-4th degree (domestic violence) and non-payment of court costs, fees or fines.
Emerson was released from custody after posting a new Bond. Wallace and Estle were given Court dates to appear.
