The Monticello Utility Commission will advertise for bids to replace an aging manhole at the intersection of Evelyn Avenue and Main Street. Commissioners agreed to move forward with the project during a meeting held yesterday (Thursday).
MUC Manager Scott Upchurch said the manhole was installed in about 1955 and is deteriorating. The work to replace it requires equipment that the MUC does not have available. He is uncertain how much it will cost to replace the manhole.
Upchurch updated MUC members regarding the meter replacement project in the city. He said 350 meters were replaced last month. Another 150 will be replaced this month and the project will be completed in January with the final 150 will be replaced.
