Police Make Arrest Following Chase

According to Police Chief, Joey Hoover on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m. MPD Officer Brandon Bertram initiated a traffic stop on a 2014 Dodge Avenger just off North Main Street in the Tradeway Shopping Center, knowing there was an active warrant for the driver, James David Denney. After making initial contact with Denney, he shut the driver’s door and then took off, resulting in a pursuit that continued for approximately seven miles out KY 3106 and KY 90 East before ending in the parking lot of Double Head Market. Denney was arrested and charged with Probation Violation, Wanton Endangerment of Police Officers, Fleeing or Evading Police, Speeding and Reckless Driving. Officer Bertram was assisted by MPD Lt. Josh Asberry, MPD Officer Jared Foster and WCSO Deputy Derek Dennis. Denney was processed and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
On Sunday, November 28, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Joseph Estle, 28, of Monticello, was arrested and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking, Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot, and Resisting Arrest. Estle’s charges stemmed from a complaint of shoplifting at Tractor Supply on North Main Street. He was arrested by MPD Lt. Josh Asberry, MPD Officer Jared Foster and WCSO Deputy James Barnett. Estle was processed and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
Also on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at approximately 8:10 p.m. Rachel Pitcock, 36, of Monticello, was taken into custody on a warrant for Failure to Appear in local district court. Pitcock was arrested by MPD Officer Brandon Bertram and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
