Work continues on the new 911 center in Monticello as equipment issues may slow progress.
Officials report work is ongoing at the new 911 center, next door to the Police Department most of the outdoor work has been finished with construction crews working on drywall and electric recently. A possible hitch in the move has been noted as manufacturing as well as shipping delays have been reported for multiple pieces of equipment needed to bring the new center to operation.
The city and county governments in February approved documents for the 911 center to remain in its current location for an additional eight months. The house next to the police station, which is owned by the city, was to be deeded to the county as a new home for the 911 center. The delays may push local government to extend the eight month deadline.
