According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron his Offices’ undercover investigations is continuing into the illegal sales of narcotics with another Wayne Countian being arrested on drug trafficking charges.
On November 15, 2021, at 5:45 pm Deputies James Barnett and Derek Dennis was working surveillance in the Kentucky Highway 90 and Highway 92 intersection area when their target vehicle was spotted. The Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Willa Drive. The driver of the vehicle was known by the Deputies to have a suspended operator’s license. After being arrested for the suspended license violation, the Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. A cloth sunglass case that was observed originally in the driver’s lap was found to contain 7 small plastic baggies of methamphetamine that was packaged for resale weighing 25 grams and 8 blue pills known to be alprazolam was seized. Also laying in the passengers side front seat under a jacket was a 9mm handgun.
Deputy Derek Dennis charged and arrested Matthew Brown of Monticello, Ky. for operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than 2 grams of methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance-3rd degree (drug unspecified), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and a traffic violation.
Brown was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
