New information on remains discovered in Wayne County earlier this week may be several days away.
Wayne County Coroner, Gordon Hicks reported to Z93 Newsfirst that everything at the scene has been collected and wrapped up. It’s expected that the state lab in Frankfort will take possession of the remains in the next few days and will conduct their investigation; meanwhile the Kentucky State Police will be using some dental records for accelerated DNA testing.
There is no timeframe to expect results to be returned, the best case scenario would be as early as week to ten days but could actually be much longer than that. Hicks reports that law enforcement are taking a closer look at least five or more missing persons cases from within the past year that come from Wayne and surrounding counties. Hicks cautioned that officers must do their due diligence in a case such as this and not have tunnel vision when trying to assume identities.
