The City of Monticello received an unmodified opinion on its latest audit. That is the highest opinion given by auditors, according to Barry Daulton as he reviewed the report with the council during their meeting last night (Monday). The audit was for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2020. Daulton noted there were no irregularities discovered during the audit process and no modifications had to be made.
During her report to the council, Mayor Tracie Sexton updated them in regard to a couple of ongoing projects, including a sidewalk project near the school campus. She has received some information recently and the feedback is a positive sign that the construction may move forward. She said that blacktopping on city streets is scheduled to begin this week.
Sexton said trick-or-treat hours have been set for Saturday, October 30 from 5 until 8m p.m. The Community Safe Trick-or-Treat event will be held at Memorial Park during that time. Vendors who would like to set up at the park and give out candy should contact Sexton’s office.
