Each year, local residents have the opportunity to review and inspect the local property tax assessment roll, which shows each property’s value, which will guide how much the property tax bill for the year will be. The inspection period is open now, Monday May 3rd, through May 17th at the McCreary County PVA office in the courthouse during regular office hours. The property assessment are as of January 1, 2021 and will be for the property tax bills that should come out this September. After inspecting the roll, any property owner wishing to appeal an assessment may follow a procedure that includes first meeting with PVA staff and then appealing to the county board of assessment appeals. For more on the process or the inspection period, stop by or call the PVA office at 376-2514.
