Tuesday, April 6, 2021 – At approximately 2:12 p.m. a chain-reaction rear-end collision involving three vehicles occurred on KY 90 West in front of South Creek Medical Center injuring one person.
MPD Lt. Josh Asberry’s investigation determined a 2009 Lincoln SUV operated by Charlene Raynes struck from behind a 2007 Chevrolet truck operated by Norman Yoder, knocking Yoder’s truck forward and into a 2005 Dodge truck operated by Todd Cordeiro-Shaffer.
All three drivers are Monticello residents and were traveling alone. Both trucks were stopped in the westbound lane waiting for another vehicle ahead of them to turn onto Gregory Street.
Raynes sustained head and other possible injuries. She was transported by Wayne County EMS to the local airport and then flown by PHi Air Medical to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment. Both other drivers escaped injury.
Agencies responding to the accident included the Monticello Police Department, Monticello Fire Department, Wayne County EMS and Wayne County Rescue Squad.
