Time is ticking until alcohol sales begin in Wayne County and local officials are in the process of getting legal matters set in order.
The county will need to appoint an administrator for alcoholic beverages, and a local board; the appointments have not been made yet but will need to be complete by January 5th, which will be 60 days from the certification of the November election.
The County Judge Executive tells Z93 that he’s hopeful to have the county’s ordinance written this week, with a special meeting of magistrates to hear the first reading. It’s hopeful the county will have a two to three member board to serve temporarily as the proper steps are taken accordance to Kentucky law. Although it’s early in the process it is expected that the county will not have liquor sales on Sunday.
