Cardinal football continues to prepare for the upcoming season.

In less than 6 weeks the Wayne County Cardinal Football team will take the field for their season opener, Head Coach Shawn Thompson tells us there are some offseason activities on the horizon. Practice will open this Monday night at 7pm. The later hours make it easier on the players due to hot weather conditions.

The team also has a couple of 7 on 7 passing drills planned with Clinton County, those are coming up on July 18th & 22nd.

Wayne County’s preseason scrimmage will be played on August 16th when they host Metcalf County & the season opener will be played against Shelby County in the Death Valley Bowl on August 23rd.

This year the district has a whole new look & will feature Corbin, Knox Central, and Lincoln County along with the Cardinals.
