The McCreary County Board of Education announced just days ago that One member of their transportation staff has been diagnosed with Whooping Cough (Pertussis). A statement from the district: Our district health coordinator has been in contact with the Lake Cumberland District Health Department. Following their guidance, every adult who may have had contact with this person has been notified. Every child who could have potentially had contact with that person was given an informational letter to take home.
Also, we attempted to call parents/guardians of those children. And, all potentially affected surfaces were sanitized today. We believe this to be an event with limited exposure. Again, we have followed professional guidance in contacting the appropriate adults, students and parents/guardians. However, we wanted to share this with the community as an additional precaution.
