The property tax rate for the county will remain the same as last year, following action taken by the Wayne County Fiscal Court during their meeting last night (Thursday). County Judge-Executive Mike Anderson recommended that the court adopt the same rate, at 12.6 cents per hundred dollars assessed value for real property. The rate for personal property will remain at 32.25 cents per hundred dollars assessed value. Also during the meeting, the court approved the only bid that was received for an integrated touch screen control security system for the jail. Jailer Ronnie Ellis said that Advanced System Technology Inc. submitted a bid of $46,812 for the system. An additional $2,500 was bid for the touch screen control. Ellis noted that the jail had received a $24,000 grant to help with the cost of the system. The remainder of the money for the system was included in the jail’s annual budget.
